The Reuining of the Clan

I am in charge of this year's family reunion. The following is the initial email announcement.

Hello, fellow spawns,

I have been avoiding writing this email for some time now, but ignoring it doesn't seem to be making it go away.

Some of you may be aware that we have for the last several decades been meeting semi-annually, once in summer and once in winter. It may shock some of you to learn that the purpose of these meetings is for our family to reuin. The summer reuining is scheduled for July 10, 2010, (I mentioned this to at least 6 people at Jana's wedding). On a related note, we plan to ignore Winter's reuining until it goes away or until November, which ever comes first.

Since my family is in charge of this year's gathering, I recently spent two days looking for a place to hold it. It turns out that there are lots of families that do this sort of thing in July on the 10th, and that all park pavilions on the Wasatch Front are booked. Fortunately, I was able to secure a stable, complete with manger--oops, wait, that's what I'll do in November--I was able to secure our stake's ball field's south pavilion (the nicer, north pavilion was already booked).

We have also selected a theme for this year's gathering: Let's Get This Over With--Murdock Reunion 2010.

In keeping with the theme, the gathering is scheduled for 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, this time frame is much earlier than usual. So, if you want to be two hours late, you have to come an hour early. If you're a three-hours-late person, plan for a quick round trip.

The theme will also allow us to have cool "Let's Get This Over With" activity stations, such as:

-Band aid(tm) removal
-Root canal
-Tax filing
-Re-setting broken nose
-Beat up family in north pavilion
-Family portraits
-Colonoscopy (we can only afford one, so the rest of you will have to watch the video)
-Deck demolition (I am serious about this one, I need help demolishing my deck and would love anyone willing/able to help me after our gathering)

I will send directions as we get closer to the date. I will also send food assignments. As always there will be no formal program other than the colonoscopy video. I would also love to ignore any questions you might have.

Love,

Rick

PS Please forward this to anyone in the family who I may have missed.

I'm going to have to remember this when it is my turn for our Family Reunion.
One problem, you should have had some sort of warning at the beginning of the post:

WARNING: Do not drink liquid or eat food at your computer while reading this post.
(I think I may be able to revive the keyboard)
